General description of products Strenx 600
High-strength structural steel with a yield strength of 600 MPa
Strenx® 600MC D/E is a hot-rolled structural steel designed for cold forming. The minimum yield strength is 600 MPa. It is used to increase the bearing capacity or lighten metal structures.
Strenx® 600MC D/E steel meets or exceeds the requirements of EN 10149-2 up to grade S600 MC. The scope of application – nodes and parts of responsible highly loaded metal structures. Strenx® 600MC D/E steel is available in coils, strips and cut-to-size sheets.
Standard size series
Strenx® 600MC D/E steel is available in coils and strips in thicknesses from 2.00 to 10.00 mm and widths up to 1600 mm, and in sheets cut to lengths up to 16 meters.
Mechanical properties
Mechanical properties are tested in the longitudinal direction.
1) Instead of the value of ReH, it is allowed to use the value of Rp0.2.
2) The value of A80 refers to the thickness < 3.00 mm.
3) The size of A5 refers to sheet thickness ≥ 3.00 mm.
4) Both in longitudinal and transverse directions.
Impact viscosity
Chemical composition (bucket sample) Strenx 600
1) The suitability of the steel for hot-dip galvanizing according to category A or B according to the EN 10149-2 standard must be specified in the order. By prior agreement, galvanizing according to other classes with increased silicon content is possible.
2) The sum of the values of Nb, V and Ti = slightly more than 0.22%.
The steel is fine-grained.

Tolerances Strenx 600
For more information, see in SSAB’s brochures in English “Strenx® Guarantees.
Thickness
Tolerances correspond to the guaranteed thickness parameters of Strenx steel. Strenx® thickness tolerances, which are much stricter than similar requirements of the EN 10051 standard, have become the guaranteed parameters.
Length and width
Width and length tolerances meet the requirements of the SSAB standard. The requirements of the SSAB standard exceed in rigidity the width and length tolerances fixed in the EN 10051 standard. The length tolerances apply only to cut-to-size sheet steel.
Form
Tolerances according to the EN 10051 standard. Tightening of tolerances according to the standards of the SSAB company is possible on request.
Flatness
The tolerances correspond to the guaranteed parameters of Strenx® steel according to class A for flatness. The guaranteed parameters of Strenx® steel include flatness tolerances, which are much stricter than the similar requirements of the EN 10051 standard. Flatness guarantees apply only to cut-to-size sheet steel.
Surface quality
Complies with EN 10163-2 Class A, Subclass 3.
Processing recommendations
Welding, flexible and machining
Treatment of cold-formed Strenx® 600MC D/E at temperatures above 580 °C may result in loss of its guaranteed properties.
Processing information can be found in SSAB brochures at www.ssab.com or by contacting technical support.
It is necessary to observe precautionary measures during bending, welding, cutting, grinding and other mechanical processing.
