Hardox® 450
The most popular steel with high resistance to abrasive wear and excellent structural properties.
Abrasion-resistant Hardox® 450 steel with a nominal hardness of 450 Brinell units. Hardox® 450 steel combines good bendability and weldability with guaranteed impact strength (Hardox® 450 Tuf brand).
Steel is intended for the manufacture of an extremely wide range of products and structures prone to wear. An additional 50 Brinell hardness units (compared to our 400 grade) gives Hardox® 450 steel increased dent resistance and abrasion resistance, as well as extending the life of wear-prone products, thus providing additional savings.

Size series
Hardox® 450 steel is supplied in the form of wide-rolled sheets with a thickness of 3.2 – 130 mm, coils of 2.0 – 8.0 mm and in cold-rolled sheets with a thickness of 0.8 – 2.1 mm. 1) Brinell hardness (HBW) according to EN ISO 6506-1 on a surface milled 0.5 – 3 mm deep. At least one test sample from each melt and for every 40 tons.
2) Hardox® 450 cold-rolled sheets are measured for hardness by the Vickers method (VH5). Vickers hardness measurements are carried out in accordance with the requirements of the EN ISO 6507-1 standard.
Deviations of the nominal thickness of the rolled sheet upon delivery from the thickness of the control sample, with which the hardness tests are carried out, do not exceed +/- 15 mm.
Hardox steel is hardened throughout its thickness. The hardness in the center is at least 90% of the guaranteed surface hardness.

1) Impact tests are carried out with a sheet thickness of ≥ 6 mm for rolled sheet steel and rolled steel with a thickness of ≥ 3 mm. With a thickness in the range of 3 – 11.9 mm, reduced Sharpie samples with a V-shaped incision are used. The specified minimum value is calculated in proportion to the cross-sectional area of the control sample compared to the full-size sample (10 x 10 mm). ISO EN 148 impact tests are performed for each melt and thickness group. Average of three trials.
2) A single value is at least 70% of the given average.

Tolerances
Thickness
Tolerances correspond to the guaranteed thickness parameters of Hardox steel. The guaranteed parameters of Hardox® steel wide sheets meet the requirements of the EN 10029 standard for class A. The guaranteed parameters of the coils meet the half requirements of the EN 10051 standard, and cold-rolled sheets meet the requirements of the EN 10131 standard.
Length and width
According to the SSAB range. Tolerances for flat sheets meet SSAB’s standards for sheet metal with uncut edges, which, in turn, meet the requirements of EN 10029. Tolerances for cold-rolled sheets meet the requirements of EN 10131. Products with tighter tolerances can be supplied on request.
Form
Approvals for broad sheets according to the EN 10029 standard, for coils according to the EN 10051 standard, and for cold-rolled sheets according to the EN 10131 standard.
Flatness
Flat flatness tolerances correspond to the guaranteed parameters of Hardox® steel according to class D, which exceed the requirements of the EN 10 029 standard. Flatness tolerances of coiled products correspond to the guaranteed parameters of Hardox® steel according to class A, which are stricter than the tolerances according to the EN 10 standard. of cold-rolled sheets correspond to the guaranteed parameters of Hardox® steel according to class B.
Surface quality
In accordance with the requirements of the EN 10 163-2 standard for class A, subclass 1.
Flexible
Flexible properties of wide-rolled steel correspond to the guaranteed parameters of Hardox® steel when bent according to class F. Flexible properties of steel in cold-rolled sheets correspond to guaranteed parameters of Hardox® steel when bent according to class C, and of rolled products – according to class B.
