EXAMPLE
Helsinger power station
The new Helsingør Power Plant headquarters consists of the Cube and Operating Facilities, two buildings that will stand next to the power plant with its distinctive architecture. The Cube is a rust-red building clad in COR-TEN® , steel that matches the colors of its surroundings.
Creating uniqueness with predictability
COR-TEN ® steel is a versatile material that is manufactured under complete process control. The steel’s purity, optimized chemistry, consistent mechanical properties, tight dimensional tolerances and superior surface quality ensure predictable and trouble-free performance that gives you the freedom to truly express your architect’s vision. Bend it. Perforate it. Stir. There are endless possibilities to bring natural beauty to the environment in which it is located. COR-TEN ® steel is now becoming a trend-setting material in all aspects of architecture. Buildings that use COR-TEN ® steel have repeatedly received awards for innovative and sustainable design.
Профільний сталевий лист COR-TEN ®
With COR-TEN ® steel, it is easy to create a dynamic facade. The profile shape follows the architect’s wishes, allowing daylight to play with shadows for an ever-changing look, while artificial lighting adds life to the dark hours of the day.
COR-TEN ®
perforated steel panels
COR-TEN ® weather-resistant steel sheets can be perforated in any way. Create your design using round, square, rectangular holes, custom texts, logos and images. Everything is possible. Illumination of your creation will emphasize your design even more.
COR-TEN ® steel is ideal for mixing with other building materials. Contrast COR-TEN® dark brown patina in any shape with concrete, brick or wood for a unique and attractive facade.
PATIN FORMATION PROCESS
Use nature
Initially, the steel begins to rust just like any other carbon steel when exposed to wet and dry weather conditions. However, over time, the layer of rust turns into a dense layer of patina, which covers the steel surface, resisting further corrosion. The color changes from fresh, newly developed orange-brown to light and finally dark brown.
The rate of change and the final color of the steel depend on the atmospheric conditions of the site and the quality of the surrounding air. A dense sulfur atmosphere will accelerate the oxidation process and lead to a darker coating. Frequent cycles of wet and dry weather conditions will also accelerate oxidation.
