The Brinell hardness test is applied to each armour steel in accordance with the principles of EN ISO 6506-1. If the thickness of the hardness measuring area is less than 4.75 mm, the 5/750 HBW measurement method is used. For other thicknesses, the 10/3000 HBW method is used.
The hardness tests are carried out on the machined surface at a depth of 0.50-1.00 mm from the surface of the armour steel.
The Charpy V-notch impact test is applied in the directions perpendicular and parallel to the rolling direction in all castings and thicknesses* in accordance with the principles of EN ISO 148-1.
For products with a nominal thickness of less than 11.00 mm, smaller specimens are used. The determined minimum impact value is then proportional to the cross-sectional area of the test specimen. (*when ordering 6.00 mm and thicker armor steel)
