General description of products

Duroxite® 400 is a specially designed surfacing stud designed to withstand extreme temperatures and metal-to-metal wear. Its exceptional quality comes from precise control and selection of raw materials, as well as in-house processing. The maximum operating temperature of the product is 480 °C (900 °F). The hardness of the Duroxite® overlay pin can reach 58 HRC during operation. Duroxite® 400 dowel pin fits 12% manganese bushings. This bearing system is expected to last longer than the traditional hardened surfaces used, such as induction heat hardened 4140 pins.

Key benefits

  • Provides excellent wear resistance of the lining and a strong inner core
  • Works well when torque and surface compression are involved
  • Designed to outlast original equipment and manganese pins

Typical programs

Duroxite® 400 was originally developed for dragline bucket components, but has gained wide acceptance in other applications as well. It is also used for heavy mining or industrial equipment such as dragline shovels, clamshell buckets, pivots, backhoe pivots, and crusher shafts.

Overhead pins can be machined to meet the requirements of any particular application. For more application information, see the Duroxite® product brochure.

1)  Surface hardness is measured on a machined flat surface just below the overlay surface.

2) ASTM G65 – Weight Loss Procedure A is a standard test for measuring sliding abrasion resistance using a dry sand/rubber wheel apparatus. ASTM G65-Procedure A is the most stringent test method.

3)  ASTM G65 – Weight Loss Test Procedure, wear is carried out at 75% of the depth of overlay materials to ensure consistently good wear resistance from the top surface to the depth of 75% of the overlay.

Dimensions

The diameter of Duroxite® 400 can be guaranteed to within typical tolerances of ±0.127 mm (±0.005”).

Roundness

Roundness tolerance can be guaranteed to within ±0.254 mm (±0.010”).

Safety equipment

When welding or cutting Duroxite® products, fumes are produced containing harmful vapors and gases that are extremely complex in chemistry and difficult to classify easily. The main toxic component in the fumes and gases produced in the process is hexavalent chromium. Adequate exhaust ventilation equipment and fume extraction flares are recommended, as well as suitable protective clothing and respiratory protection for operators.
