General description of products Ramor 550

Steel for ballistic protection with extremely high hardness.

Ramor® 550 is an ultra-high hardness ballistic protection steel available in thicknesses of 3.0-15.0 mm (0.118-0.591″) and hardnesses of 540-600 HBW.

Ramor® 550 is available in 3.0-6.0mm (0.118-0.236″) cut sheet and 6.0-15.0mm (0.236-0.591″) slab. Supplied in a hardened condition, Ramor® 550 is not intended for further heat treatment.

Mechanical tests

Brinell hardness test according to EN ISO 6506-1 for each individual heat treatment/coil.

The hardness is measured on the milled surface 0.3-2 mm below the surface of the plate.

Sheets are supplied with trimmed edges as standard.

  • Tolerances conform to EN 10 051 or SSAB upon approval.

The plate is supplied according to the SSAB size program.

  • Tolerances conform to EN 10 029 or SSAB upon approval.
  • Tolerances on the dimensions of a sheet with a milled edge according to a special agreement.

Form

Tolerances according to EN 10029 for plate and according to EN 10051 for sheet.

Flatness

Tolerances in accordance with SSAB flatness tolerances which are more restrictive than EN 10 029 Class N (Type L steel) and EN 10 051.
