Easy to bend and weld, Hardox® 500 abrasion-resistant steel with a nominal hardness of 500 Brinell units is used where increased wear resistance is required.</span >
Hardox® 500 steel allows you to increase the useful load on products and structures, extending their service life and at the same time maintaining good machinability.

Size series
Hardox® 500 steel is supplied in the form of wide-rolled steel with a thickness of 4.0 – 103 mm and rolled steel with a thickness of 2.0 – 7.0 mm. The width of the wide-rolled sheet made of Hardox® 500 steel reaches 3,350 mm, and the length is 14,630 mm. The width of Rolled Hardox® 500 reaches 1650 mm, and the length is 16,000 mm. 1) Brinell hardness (HBW) according to EN ISO 6506-1 on a surface milled 0.5 – 3 mm deep. At least one test sample from each melt and for every 40 tons.
The deviation of the nominal thickness of the rolled sheet upon delivery from the thickness of the control sample, with which the hardness tests are carried out, do not exceed +/- 15 mm.
Hardox steel is hardened throughout its thickness. The hardness in the center is at least 90% of the guaranteed surface hardness.

1) Impact viscosity is measured by agreement. With a thickness in the range of 3 – 11.9 mm, reduced Sharpie samples with a V-shaped incision are used. The specified impact strength is calculated in proportion to the cross-sectional area of the test sample compared to the full-size sample (10 x 10 mm). Impact tests are performed according to ISO EN 148. Average of three tests.

Tolerances
Thickness
Tolerances correspond to the guaranteed thickness parameters of Hardox steel. The guaranteed parameters of the Hardox® steel wide sheets meet the requirements of the EN 10 029 class A standard, and the rolled products meet ½ the requirements of the EN 10 051 standard.
Length and width
According to the SSAB range. Tolerances for flat sheets meet the standards of the SSAB company for sheets with uncut edges, which in turn meet the requirements of the EN 10029 standard. Tolerances for coils meet the requirements of the EN 10051 standard. Products with tighter tolerances can be supplied on request.</p >
Form
The tolerances of broad-sheet products meet the requirements of the EN 10029 standard, and of rolled products – the EN 10051 standard.
Flatness
Flat flatness tolerances correspond to the guaranteed parameters of Hardox® steel according to class D, which exceed the requirements of the EN 10 029 standard.
The flatness tolerances of rolled products correspond to the guaranteed parameters of Hardox® steel according to class A, which are stricter than the tolerances according to the EN 10 051 standard.
Surface quality
In accordance with the requirements of the EN 10 163-2 standard for class A, subclass 1.
Flexible
Flexible properties of wide-rolled steel correspond to guaranteed parameters of Hardox® steel when bent according to class G. Flexible properties of rolled products correspond to guaranteed parameters of Hardox® steel when bent according to class C.
