Hardox® 600 steel with a nominal hardness of 600 Brinell units has a truly unique impact toughness index.
Ideal for use in extreme, wear-accelerating conditions, this steel can be cut and welded without fear due to its exceptionally high performance characteristics.
What is hardness?
Hardox® 600 successfully competes with castings from high chromium copper-cobalt-iron alloys and other analogs.
Size series
Hardox® 600 steel is supplied in the form of wide-rolled sheets with a thickness of 6.0 – 65.0 mm and in sheets with a thickness of 3.0 – 6.0 mm, width up to 2000 mm and length up to 14,630 mm. The preferred dimensions of slabs are 2000 x 4000 mm and the preferred dimensions of sheets are 1250 x 3000 or 1500 x 3000 mm depending on the thickness. 1) Brinell hardness, HBW, according to EN ISO 6506-1, on the milled surface 0.5 – 3 mm below the surface of the sheet. At least one sample for melting tests and 40 tons. The nominal thickness of the material should not deviate by more than ± 15 mm from the thickness of the sample. For sheet, the Brinell hardness is determined in accordance with EN ISO 6506-1 on each individual heat treatment per roll. Hardness is measured on the milled surface 0.3 – 2 mm below the surface.
Hardox steel is hardened throughout its thickness. The hardness in the center is at least 90% of the guaranteed surface hardness.

Tolerances
Thickness
Tolerances correspond to the guaranteed thickness parameters of Hardox steel. The guaranteed parameters of Hardox® steel meet the requirements of the EN 10 029 class A standard with stricter tolerances. The guaranteed parameters of rolled products meet the requirements of half of the EN 10 051 standard.
Length and width
According to the SSAB company range. Tolerances according to the standard EN 10029 or according to the standard of the company SSAB according to the agreement. The tolerances for rolled products meet SSAB’s standards for sheet products with uncut edges, which in turn meet the requirements of the EN 10051 standard.
Form
The tolerances of sheet metal meet the requirements of the EN 10029 standard, and steel sheets meet the requirements of the EN 10051 standard.
Flatness
The tolerances correspond to the guaranteed parameters of Hardox® steel in class E in terms of flatness, which exceed the requirements of the standard EN 10 029 in class N. The tolerances in flatness of coils correspond to the guaranteed parameters of Hardox® steel in class B, which are stricter than the tolerances in standard EN 10.
Surface quality
In accordance with the requirements of the standard EN 10 163-2 for class A, subclass 1.
