General description of products<\/span><\/span><\/h2>[vc_column_text animation_delay=”0″]SSAB Domex HSLA metal coated steels are designed for complex structural applications that require galvanic corrosion protection and good formability in addition to high strength. SSAB Domex HSLA metal coated steels are designated according to their minimum guaranteed yield strength of 220 to 500 MPa. Most of these steel grades comply with the EN 10346 standard and exceed the requirements of the standard due to better formability and more stable properties, which increases productivity in the workshops due to a stable forming result. The low variation in mechanical properties makes them very suitable for automated molding processes. Coating<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Metal-coated products are offered with zinc (Z), zinc-aluminum Galfan (ZA) or zinc-iron Galvannealed (ZF) coating. The cathodic corrosion protection of these metal coatings is directly proportional to its thickness, meaning that a thick coating will provide better corrosion protection to the underlying steel than a thin coating. However, thin coatings are recommended for applications with high formability requirements.<\/p>\n

Zinc<\/h3>\n

The Zinc (Z) coating has an almost entirely zinc composition (>99%) and is lead-free, resulting in finely crystallized zinc sparkles that meet high demands on appearance. It is made by the method of hot galvanizing. Due to the good ability to form lead-free coatings, corrosion protection, for example on curved areas, is good. The coating of small sparkles is indicated by the letter M.<\/p>\n

Galfan<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Galfan (ZA) is a zinc-aluminum alloy coating with a eutectic composition of approximately 95% Zn and 5% Al. This coating has better anti-corrosion and forming properties than conventional zinc coatings. Galfan coating can be recognized by a bright metallic surface with a soft mesh pattern. It is produced by the method of hot coating.<\/p>\n

galvanized<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Galvannealed (ZF) is a zinc-iron alloy coating containing approximately 10% iron. This coating is produced by heat treatment after a continuous hot dip process. ZF coated steels are excellent for contact welding and are designed for use in high quality painted products. Galvanized coating can be recognized by the typical grayish matte surface.<\/p><\/div>\n

Defects such as pimples, marks, scratches, pits, changes in surface appearance, dark spots, streaks and light passivation spots are acceptable. Alignment gaps or spreading marks may appear. Coil breaks and stretching of the stretcher may also occur. Surface quality A has a shiny appearance.<\/p>\n

Improved surface (B)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Surface quality B is achieved by passing through the skin. With this surface quality, small imperfections such as stretch alignment breaks, skin pass marks, small scratches, surface texture, spread marks and light passivation spots are acceptable. To prevent the formation of white rust during transport or storage, the following surface treatments are available:<\/p>\n

Chemical passivation (C)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Unless otherwise agreed, zinc and galvanic coated coils and sheets are supplied chemically passivated. A thin passivating layer remains on the surface of the product. The purpose of this is to protect the coating from the formation of white rust during transport and storage. However, this treatment is not sufficient for protection under all conditions.<\/p>\n

Lubrication (O)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If necessary, oil lubrication can be used instead of chemical passivation. Metal coated products to be painted are recommended to be supplied lubricated, therefore Galvannealed rolls are supplied lubricated unless otherwise agreed. The temporary corrosion protection provided by oil is particularly dependent on storage time, so long-term storage of products lubricated with oil should be avoided.<\/p>\n

Chemical passivation and lubrication (CO)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Oil passivation is also available for maximum surface protection.<\/p>\n

Unprotected (U)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In an unprotected state, i.e. without surface treatment, there is a risk of corrosion products and scratches during transport, storage or transportation. Products are supplied without surface treatment only at the request of the customer under his own responsibility.<\/p>\n

General information about surface treatment<\/strong><\/h3>\n

All surface treatments are RoHS (2011\/65\/EU) compliant and Chromium VI (Cr\u00a06+) free.<\/p>\n

Surface treatment provides only temporary surface protection during transport and storage. White rust tends to form easily on the surface of bright, freshly coated rolls or in the space between tightly packed sheets if condensation or rainwater collects on the surface and cannot evaporate quickly. To avoid white rust, it is necessary to ensure that coated products are dry during transportation and storage. Condensation can form between overlays or sheets, for example, due to daily temperature changes or during the introduction of cold products into a warm building. If they get wet and white rust begins to form, they must be separated and placed so that they can dry quickly. Coating<\/h3>\n

Metal-coated products are offered with zinc (Z), zinc-aluminum Galfan (ZA) or zinc-iron Galvannealed (ZF) coating. The cathodic corrosion protection of these metal coatings is directly proportional to its thickness, meaning that a thick coating will provide better corrosion protection to the underlying steel than a thin coating. However, thin coatings are recommended for applications with high formability requirements.<\/p>\n

Zinc<\/h3>\n

The Zinc (Z) coating has an almost entirely zinc composition (>99%) and is lead-free, resulting in finely crystallized zinc sparkles that meet high demands on appearance. It is made by the method of hot galvanizing. Due to the good ability to form lead-free coatings, corrosion protection, for example on curved areas, is good. The coating of small sparkles is indicated by the letter M.<\/p>\n

Galfan<\/h3>\n

Galfan (ZA) is a zinc-aluminum alloy coating with a eutectic composition of approximately 95% Zn and 5% Al. This coating has better anti-corrosion and forming properties than conventional zinc coatings. Galfan coating can be recognized by a bright metallic surface with a soft mesh pattern. It is produced by the method of hot coating.<\/p>\n

galvanized<\/h3>\n

Galvannealed (ZF) is a zinc-iron alloy coating containing approximately 10% iron. This coating is produced by heat treatment after a continuous hot dip process. ZF coated steels are excellent for contact welding and are designed for use in high quality painted products. Galvanized coating can be recognized by the typical grayish matte surface.<\/p><\/div>\n

Chemical passivation (C)<\/h3>\n

Unless otherwise agreed, zinc and galvanic coated coils and sheets are supplied chemically passivated. A thin passivating layer remains on the surface of the product. The purpose of this is to protect the coating from the formation of white rust during transport and storage. However, this treatment is not sufficient for protection under all conditions.<\/p>\n

Lubrication (O)<\/h3>\n

If necessary, oil lubrication can be used instead of chemical passivation. Metal coated products to be painted are recommended to be supplied lubricated, therefore Galvannealed rolls are supplied lubricated unless otherwise agreed. The temporary corrosion protection provided by oil is particularly dependent on storage time, so long-term storage of products lubricated with oil should be avoided.<\/p>\n

Chemical passivation and lubrication (CO)<\/h3>\n

Oil passivation is also available for maximum surface protection.<\/p>\n

Unprotected (U)<\/h3>\n

In an unprotected state, i.e. without surface treatment, there is a risk of corrosion products and scratches during transport, storage or transportation. Products are supplied without surface treatment only at the request of the customer under his own responsibility.<\/p>\n

All surface treatments are RoHS (2011\/65\/EU) compliant and Chromium VI (Cr\u00a06+) free.<\/h3>\n

Surface treatment provides only temporary surface protection during transport and storage. White rust tends to form easily on the surface of bright, freshly coated rolls or in the space between tightly packed sheets if condensation or rainwater collects on the surface and cannot evaporate quickly. To avoid white rust, it is necessary to ensure that coated products are dry during transportation and storage. Condensation can form between overlays or sheets, for example, due to daily temperature changes or during the introduction of cold products into a warm building. If they get wet and white rust begins to form, they must be separated and placed so that they can dry quickly. Coating<\/h3>\n

Metal-coated products are offered with zinc (Z), zinc-aluminum Galfan (ZA) or zinc-iron Galvannealed (ZF) coating. The cathodic corrosion protection of these metal coatings is directly proportional to its thickness, meaning that a thick coating will provide better corrosion protection to the underlying steel than a thin coating. However, thin coatings are recommended for applications with high formability requirements.<\/p>\n

Zinc<\/h3>\n

The Zinc (Z) coating has an almost entirely zinc composition (>99%) and is lead-free, resulting in finely crystallized zinc sparkles that meet high demands on appearance. It is made by the method of hot galvanizing. Due to the good ability to form lead-free coatings, corrosion protection, for example on curved areas, is good. The coating of small sparkles is indicated by the letter M.<\/p>\n

Galfan<\/h3>\n

Galfan (ZA) is a zinc-aluminum alloy coating with a eutectic composition of approximately 95% Zn and 5% Al. This coating has better anti-corrosion and forming properties than conventional zinc coatings. Galfan coating can be recognized by a bright metallic surface with a soft mesh pattern. galvanized<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Galvannealed (ZF) is a zinc-iron alloy coating containing approximately 10% iron. This coating is produced by heat treatment after a continuous hot dip process. ZF coated steels are excellent for contact welding and are designed for use in high quality painted products. Galvanized coating can be recognized by the typical grayish matte surface.<\/p><\/div>\n

Chemical passivation (C)<\/h3>\n

Unless otherwise agreed, zinc and galvanic coated coils and sheets are supplied chemically passivated. A thin passivating layer remains on the surface of the product. The purpose of this is to protect the coating from the formation of white rust during transport and storage. However, this treatment is not sufficient for protection under all conditions.<\/p>\n

Lubrication (O)<\/h3>\n

If necessary, oil lubrication can be used instead of chemical passivation. Metal coated products to be painted are recommended to be supplied lubricated, therefore Galvannealed rolls are supplied lubricated unless otherwise agreed. The temporary corrosion protection provided by oil is particularly dependent on storage time, so long-term storage of products lubricated with oil should be avoided.<\/p>\n

Chemical passivation and lubrication (CO)<\/h3>\n

Oil passivation is also available for maximum surface protection.<\/p>\n

Unprotected (U)<\/h3>\n

In an unprotected state, i.e. without surface treatment, there is a risk of corrosion products and scratches during transport, storage or transport. Products are supplied without surface treatment only at the request of the customer under his own responsibility.<\/p>\n

Coating<\/h3>\n

Metal-coated products are offered with zinc (Z), zinc-aluminum Galfan (ZA) or zinc-iron Galvannealed (ZF) coating. The cathodic corrosion protection of these metal coatings is directly proportional to its thickness, meaning that a thick coating will provide better corrosion protection to the underlying steel than a thin coating. However, thin coatings are recommended for applications with high formability requirements.<\/p>\n

Zinc<\/h3>\n

The Zinc (Z) coating has an almost entirely zinc composition (>99%) and is lead-free, resulting in finely crystallized zinc sparkles that meet high demands on appearance. It is made by the method of hot galvanizing. Due to the good ability to form lead-free coatings, corrosion protection, for example on curved areas, is good. The coating of small sparkles is indicated by the letter M.<\/p>\n

Galfan<\/h3>\n

Galfan (ZA) is a zinc-aluminum alloy coating with a eutectic composition of approximately 95% Zn and 5% Al. This coating has better anti-corrosion and forming properties than conventional zinc coatings. Galfan coating can be recognized by a bright metallic surface with a soft mesh pattern. Galvannealed (ZF) is a zinc-iron alloy coating containing approximately 10% iron. This coating is produced by heat treatment after a continuous hot dip process. Chemical passivation (C)<\/h3>\n

Unless otherwise agreed, zinc and galvanic coated coils and sheets are supplied chemically passivated. A thin passivating layer remains on the surface of the product. The purpose of this is to protect the coating from the formation of white rust during transport and storage. However, this treatment is not sufficient for protection under all conditions.<\/p>\n

Lubrication (O)<\/h3>\n

If necessary, oil lubrication can be used instead of chemical passivation. Metal coated products to be painted are recommended to be supplied lubricated, therefore Galvannealed rolls are supplied lubricated unless otherwise agreed. The temporary corrosion protection provided by oil is particularly dependent on storage time, so long-term storage of products lubricated with oil should be avoided.<\/p>\n

Chemical passivation and lubrication (CO)<\/h3>\n

Oil passivation is also available for maximum surface protection.<\/p>\n

Unprotected (U)<\/h3>\n

In an unprotected state, i.e. without surface treatment, there is a risk of corrosion products and scratches during transport, storage or transport. Products are supplied without surface treatment only at the request of the customer under his own responsibility.<\/p>\n

To prevent the formation of white rust during transport or storage, the following surface treatments are available:<\/p>\n

Chemical passivation (C)<\/h3>\n

Unless otherwise agreed, zinc and galvanic coated coils and sheets are supplied chemically passivated. A thin passivating layer remains on the surface of the product. The purpose of this is to protect the coating from the formation of white rust during transport and storage. However, this treatment is not sufficient for protection under all conditions.<\/p>\n

Lubrication (O)<\/h3>\n

If necessary, oil lubrication can be used instead of chemical passivation. Metal coated products to be painted are recommended to be supplied lubricated, therefore Galvannealed rolls are supplied lubricated unless otherwise agreed. The temporary corrosion protection provided by oil is particularly dependent on storage time, so long-term storage of products lubricated with oil should be avoided.<\/p>\n

Chemical passivation and lubrication (CO)<\/h3>\n

Oil passivation is also available for maximum surface protection.<\/p>\n

Unprotected (U)<\/h3>\n

In an unprotected state, i.e. without surface treatment, there is a risk of corrosion products and scratches during transport, storage or transport. Products are supplied without surface treatment only at the request of the customer under his own responsibility.<\/p>\n
